Fall 2011-2012* MAE 324 / MSE 324
Structure and Properties of Materials
Relates to the structures, properties, processing and performance of different materials including metals, alloys, polymers, composites, and ceramics. This course also discusses how to select materials for engineering applications. This course satisfies the MAE departmental requirement in materials as well as the MSE certificate core requirement.

Reading/Writing assignments:
Weekly problem sets and reading in reference texts. Students are expected to read one chapter per week.
Requirements/Grading:
Final Exam - 35%

Class/Precept Participation - 5%

Prerequisites and Restrictions:
It is expected all students will have completed the BSE freshman requirements of chemistry, physics, and math or their equivalent. MAE 221 recommended but may be taken concurrently. Audit option available only for non-departmental students..
