Fall 2009-2010ELE 475 / COS 475
Computer Architecture
Modern computer processor, platform and infrastructure architectures. Instruction-set architecture and high-performance processor organization including pipelining, data and instruction parallelism. Cache, memory and storage architectures. Coherent multiprocessors. Interconnection and network infrastructures.

Reading/Writing assignments:
Homework - 4 problem sets during the semester. Project work - First half research milestone due midterm week, and oral presentaion. Another project and oral presentation in mid-December and a 10 page written report due on Dean's date.
Requirements/Grading:
Mid Term Exam - 20%
Final Exam - 30%
Design Project - 30%
Problem set(s) - 20%
Other Requirements:
Not Open to Freshmen.
Prerequisites and Restrictions:
Permission of Instructor or ELE 375 or (COS 471 or it's equivalent). Seniors and graduate students may waive prerequisites with instructor's permission..
