Creative Non-Fiction
ENROLLMENT BY APPLICATION OR INTERVIEW. DEPARTMENTAL PERMISSION REQUIRED.
This is a course in factual writing and what has become known as literary nonfiction, emphasizing writing assignments and including several reading assignments from the work of John McPhee and others. Enrollment is limited to 16 second-year students, by application only.
Reading/Writing assignments:
6-8 hours or reading and writing weekly. Individual meetings every other week with the instructor.
Requirements/Grading:
Papers - 75%
Class/Precept Participation - 25%
Other Requirements:
Open to Sophomores Only.
Prerequisites and Restrictions:
For the writing sample, submit whatever you consider to be your best work from any source. Applications at http://humanities.princeton.edu.

John McPhee is a Pulitzer-Prize-winning New Yorker magazine writer and author of 28 books.
