Introduction to Language and Linguistics

Introduction to the major areas, problems and techniques of modern linguistics, providing an overview of what is known about human language: its unique nature, structure, universality and diversity.

Reading/Writing assignments:
Reading 30-40 pages weekly. Approximately 4 problem sets over the course of the semester.

Requirements/Grading:
Mid Term Exam - 30%
Final Exam - 45%
