Topics in Tonal Analysis - Rhythm, Meter, and Groove

Through readings, direct engagement with a range of music, writings, and small composition exercises, we will endeavor to deepen our understanding of notions of rhythm, meter and groove.

Reading/Writing assignments:
Reading: 30 pages of reading per week. Grading: Assignments (writings, compositions, transcriptions): 50%; Final Project: 25%.

Requirements/Grading:
Class/Precept Participation - 25%
Other (See Instructor) - 75%

Prerequisites and Restrictions:
MUS 106 or equivalent..
