Special Topics in Civil and Environmental Engineering - Design and Construction of Environmental Sensors

This course will provide an introduction to the design, fabrication, and testing of environmental sensors for use in real-time monitoring applications.Topics will include micro- controller programming, uses of solid-state sensors and radio communications using WiFi/GSM/Zigbee protocols.A primary objective will be the creation of a device that pushes data onto the internet in real time for use in decision support systems and modeling applications.

Reading/Writing assignments:
20-30 pages of reading a week and writing assignments in the form of computer code and final project documentation.
