SPA 209 is an advanced Spanish course designed to improve oral and writing skills through the analysis and discussion of contemporary Spanish and Latin American films. A significant amount of classroom time is dedicated to intensive debate on a wide variety of topics and features presented in films. The grammar component aims to facilitate a more fluent communication in Spanish. Films are viewed in Spanish with subtitles.

Reading/Writing assignments:
Students see one movie a week which will be available on Blackboard and on reserve in the Humanities Resource Center. They must publish an entry on a discussion board and participate in class discussion. Between 10-20 pages of reading per week, plus one essay with secondary sources, and a final video essay on a selected movie.
Requirements/Grading:
Papers - 25%
Oral Presentation(s) - 15%
Class/Precept Participation - 30%
