Modern Turkey: From Ataturk to AKP
This course offers an introductory overview of the history of modern Turkey, starting with the early republican period and looking into Turkey's domestic political dynamics through the republican period, including the most recent developments in Turkish domestic politics.

Reading/Writing assignments:
Both mid-term and final exams will be take-home papers, but they will require research and synthesis that builds upon class discussion. Two short papers, one final paper.
Requirements/Grading:
Take Home Final Exam - 35%
Papers - 50%
Class/Precept Participation - 15%
