Electronic and Photonic Devices

James C. Sturm

Introduction to semiconductor devices centered around modern devices and technologies. Explores the physical basis of complex technologies from the perspective of solid state physics, electricity and magnetism, statistical mechanics, and quantum mechanics. Applications to be discussed include lighting, displays, computing, energy harvesting, sensing and imaging. Laboratory: fundamentals of micro- and nano-fabrication, fabrication of integrated circuits and optoelectronic devices.

Weekly homework, 2-4 laboratory reports over the term.

MAT 103-104 and PHY 103-104. Contact instructor for questions. Pass/Fail not available to ELE majors..

ELE 308, ELE 208A are considered equivalent courses and cannot be taken multiple times for credit.
