Designing Real Systems

This course focuses on the science, engineering, and design of the highly integrated systems that dominate many of today's devices. Analysis of systems, sub-systems, and basic principles will be covered, with an emphasis on hardware-software optimization, sampling and digitization, signal and noise, feedback and control, and communication.

Reading/Writing assignments:
Weekly homework assignments and 5-40 pages of reading per week. Weekly labs include computing and simulation exercises using Matlab, sensor design, and system control.

Requirements/Grading:
Mid Term Exam - 25%
Final Exam - 25%
Lab Reports - 20%
Class/Precept Participation - 10%
Problem set(s) - 20%

Other Requirements:
Course is required for concentrators

Prerequisites and Restrictions:
ELE 201 and ELE 203.
