Junior Independent Work
No formal assignments, but the student is expected to average at least six to ten hours per week and to make regular progress reports. A final written report is required.

Prerequisites and Restrictions:
For each project, the requirements are set in consultation with the faculty advisor, and depend somewhat on the nature of the project. A written final report is required, and a copy of the report must be turned into the ELE Undergraduate Office by the end of the Reading Period. This course is open to qualified sophomores as well as juniors, provided they are adequately prepared..
Grading is done by individual project advisors. A grade for ELE 397 is given at the end of the Fall semester even if the project continues in the Spring semester. Four graded elements: Detailed outline - 10%, Interim report - 15%, Poster presentation - 15%, Final report - 60%
