Senior Independent Work
No formal assignments, but the student is expected to average at least six to ten hours per week on the project and make regular progress reports. A final written report is required.

Prerequisites and Restrictions:
For each project the requirements are set in consultation with the faculty advisor, and depend somewhat on the nature of the project. A final report is required. A written report is required by the Department, even if ELE 497 is taken as a part of a two-term sequence with ELE 498. A bound copy of the report must be turned in to the ELE Undergraduate Office by the end of Reading Period. Senior standing is required for enrollment in this course..
Grading is done by individual project advisors. A grade for ELE 497 is given at the end of the Fall semester even if the project continues in the Spring semester. Four graded elements: Detailed outline - 10%, Interim report - 15%, Poster presentation - 15%, Final report - 60%
