Contemporary Drama

This course will look at a range of British and American drama from the second half of the twentieth century to the twenty-first, with an emphasis on the developments of the last twenty years. Questions will include the relevance of drama in a culture of mass entertainment, and drama as a response to history, place, and social trauma.

Two plays per week; two theatre reviews, 3-4 pages each; 2 papers, 6-8 pages.

Paper in Lieu of Mid Term - 25%
