Advanced Japanese I

This course is designed to further students' reading ability. Students will have ample opportunity to hear and use increasingly more sophisticated vocabulary and grammatical constructions through discussion and composition. Japanese video will also be incorporated into the course. Reading materials include "Tobira" and selected readings from works in the original language.

Reading/Writing assignments:
Short composition based on readings and video materials. Approximately 15 pages of reading per week.

Prerequisites and Restrictions:
JPN 107. Students should have completed Intermediate (second-year) Japanese or equivalent as a prerequisite to admission in JPN 301..

Equivalent Courses:
JPN 301, JPN 301J are considered equivalent courses and cannot be taken multiple times for credit.

Other information:
Class will be conducted entirely in Japanese. This course is offered every Fall. Requirements & Grading: Other includes homework (10%) and a semester project (15%).
