The Western Way of War

Miguel A. Centeno

A historical and analytical overview of war focusing on the origins and consequences of organized violence, the experience of battle, the creation and behavior of warriors, and the future of such conflicts.

Reading/Writing assignments:
200 pages of reading per week. Students will be responsible for 3 short essays (5-7 pages), each worth 20% and for leading precepts. An in-class final will count for 40%

Requirements/Grading:
Final Exam - 40%
Papers - 60%
