Media and Public Policy

Introduction to communications policy and law, covering such topics as freedom of the press and the development of journalism; intellectual property; telecom and broadcast regulation; and policy challenges raised by the Internet, social media, and globalization.

Reading/Writing assignments:
Approximately 125 pages of reading a week. Two short memos, written and oral presentation (accounting for 20% of the grade); one term paper, written and oral presentation (accounting for 30% of the grade); take-home final exam (30%); class participation (20%)
