Spanish Language and Culture through Cinema
Spanish 209 is a course designed mainly to improve your speaking abilities while learning about Hispanic cultures and cinema. Moreover, throughout the semester there will be several writing exercises that will help you to improve your writing abilities. Every movie will be discussed in class. Additionally, each student will watch a supplementary film. By the end of the course, students should have a better command of all their linguistic skills, especially listening comprehension and speaking.
Sample reading list:
Students will watch one movie every week. The movies will be available on Blackboard, and on reserve in the Humanities Resource Center. After watching the movies, students will be required to post a blog comment on Blackboard's Discussion Board. These comments will be discussed in class. Additionally, there will be 10-20 page readings per week. During the semester, there will be two compositions and one video essay.
