Special Topics in Informations Sciences and Systems - Optimization of Communication Systems

Mung Chiang

Study how problems in networked communication systems can be formulated and solved as optimization, covering both classic results and current research. Introduce the methodologies of linear programming, convex optimization and Lagrange duality. Focus on applications in network architecture, protocols, distributed algorithms, fog computing, edge networking, cyber physical systems and Internet of Things.

Prior exposure to communication networks is desirable but not required. Students are expected to present research literature and carry out a final project.
