Third-Year Modern Chinese I

Designed to further develop the student's overall language skills through reading and discussion of contemporary issues published in Chinese media.

Sample reading list:
C.P. Chou, et al, All Things Considered

Reading/Writing assignments:
One to two lessons will be covered each week. Students will listen to audio tapes, and prepare for class discussion about the topics raised in the text. There will be weekly written assignment, weekly quiz and oral exercises. Classroom activities focus on speaking. The student is expected to read four pages per week.

Requirements/Grading:
Mid Term Exam - 10%
Final Exam - 20%
Quizzes - 30%
Class/Precept Participation - 15%
Other (See Instructor) - 25%

Prerequisites and Restrictions:
CHI 107 or permission of instructor.

Equivalent Courses:
CHI 303, CHI 303C are considered equivalent courses and cannot be taken multiple times for credit.
