Contemporary Korean Language and Culture I

Yuseon Yun

The fifth-year language course is designed to accelerate students' proficiency to the high-advanced level and 5th-level to promote a deeper level of understanding of contemporary Korea and its people. A wide range of social, cultural and economic issues are covered through the use of various media resources (e.g., dramas, films, songs, commercials, newspapers, websites) as well as short essays. Classroom discussion are conducted in Korean.

Reading/Writing assignments:
Approximately 10 pages of reading/week; bi-weekly short response essays; oral presentations; bi-weekly quizzes

Requirements/Grading:
Paper in lieu of Final - 20%
Take Home Mid term Exam - 15%
Quizzes - 20%
Oral Presentation(s) - 10%
Class/Precept Participation - 15%
Other (See Instructor) - 20%

Prerequisites and Restrictions:
KOR 302 or permission of instructor..

Other information:
Students are required to attend a 50-minute drill session, which will be scheduled after students are enrolled in the course.
