Alexander Hamilton: The Life, Thought, and Legacy of an American Original

Bradford P. Wilson

It seems to have taken a hip hop musical to reintroduce Alexander Hamilton to the American consciousness. In this seminar, we shall undertake a through engagement with Hamilton - the man, the thinker, the statesman. Who was he, really, and what did he contribute to the making of the American Republic? More generally, what is the relationship between a person's "biography" and his or her actions in the political arena?
