Fifth-Year Modern Chinese I in Beijing

ENROLLMENT BY APPLICATION OR INTERVIEW. DEPARTMENTAL PERMISSION REQUIRED.

A four-week summer intensive language course taught in Beijing, China, at Beijing Normal University. Materials are drawn from modern Chinese literature, film, and intellectual history, and include readings on contemporary issues as well. Admission by application. Prerequisites: CHI 403-404, CHI405-406, or equivalent. The course consists of five two-hour classes and five two-hour drill sessions weekly, plus individual tutorial sessions.

Reading/Writing assignments:
About 10 pages per day for reading material and at least 600 Chinese characters per day for writing assignments.
