Fifth-Year Modern Chinese II in Beijing

ENROLLMENT BY APPLICATION OR INTERVIEW. DEPARTMENTAL PERMISSION REQUIRED.
A four-week summer intensive language course taught in Beijing, China, at Beijing Normal University, which is a continuation of CHI 451C. Continued readings and discussion on modern Chinese literature, film, and intellectual history. This course is designed to bring students to near-native competence in all aspects of modern Chinese. It also prepares students for advanced research or employment in a variety of China-related fields. Admission by application. Prerequisites: CHI 451C or equivalent. The course will consist of five two-hour classes and five two-hour drill sessions weekly, plus individual tutorial sessions.

Reading/Writing assignments:
About 10 pages per day for reading material and at least 600 Chinese characters per day for writing assignments.
