Fourth-Year Modern Chinese II in Beijing


A four-week summer intensive language course taught in Beijing, China, which is a continuation of CHI 403C. Continued readings and discussion on academic written materials and scholarly writings on literature. This course also exposes students to the social issues China has faced in recent years while discussing various aspects of contemporary Chinese society. Prerequisites: CHI 403C or equivalent. The course consists of five two-hour classes and five two-hour drill sessions weekly, plus individual tutorials.

Reading/Writing assignments:
Approximately 3-4 pages of reading and 200-600 characters of written homework will be assigned each day.

Prerequisites and Restrictions:
CHI 403C or equivalent..

Equivalent Courses:
CHI 404C, CHI 404 are considered equivalent courses and cannot be taken multiple times for credit.

Other information:
This class will meet from 7/22/19 to 8/16/19. Students will be given a 200-600 characters of written homework each day which will account for 10% of their final grade.
