Intensive Third-year Modern Chinese II

A four-week summer intensive language course taught in Beijing, China, which is a continuation of CHI 305C. This course is designed to further improve each student's facility in written and oral expression through a close study of essays written by influential Chinese intellectuals. Essay topics include issues of women's emancipation, family systems, and modernization. The course consists of five two-hour classes and five two-hour drill sessions weekly, plus individual tutorial sessions.

Reading/Writing assignments:
Approximately 3-4 pages of reading and 200-250 characters of written homework will be assigned each day.

Requirements/Grading:
Final Exam - 15%
Other Exam - 10%

Oral Presentation(s) - 20%
Class/Precept Participation - 10%

Prerequisites and Restrictions:
CHI 305C or equivalent.

Equivalent Courses:
CHI 306C, CHI 306 are considered equivalent courses and cannot be taken multiple times for credit.

Other information:
This class will meet from 7/22/19 to 8/16/19. Students will be given a 200-250 characters of written homework each day. This counts for 15% of their final grade.
