Diplomas

Replacement Diplomas or Program Certificates

Diplomas and program certificates are unique documents; the University does not issue copies or duplicates. However, the Office of the Registrar will replace a lost or damaged diploma or program certificate upon application and with a statement of loss or damage.

Instructions

  • Submit a notarized Application for Replacement Diploma or Program Certificate form.

  • Include a check or money order in U.S. dollars made payable to Princeton University: Replacement Diploma - $75;  Replacement Program Certificate - $30.

  • If available, the damaged diploma or program certificate must be returned along with the replacement request.

Notes

  • Replacement Diploma Format: Replacement diplomas follow the current diploma format. It is printed with the original graduation date and the name of the student at the time of graduation, but with the current President’s and University Secretary’s signatures. A replacement diploma bears a notation at the bottom stating that the diploma is a replacement of the original and lists the date of its preparation.

  • Replacement Program Certificates: A replacement program certificate is printed with the original graduation date and the name of the student at the time of graduation, but with the current President’s signature.
